Building the Future Together: Culture, Education, and New Pathways in Brazil

In Brazil, millions of children still grow up without access to culture, education, or safe places to spend their free time. This is where the Cauim.org Film Club—co-founded by physician and World Cup champion Dr. Socrates († 2011)—comes in: For decades, the initiative has been bringing cinema, art, and education to children who would otherwise be excluded.
A single ticket means a whole afternoon at the movies for a child:
- a movie
- a drink
- a bag of popcorn
- and, above all, community
For many children, it’s their first trip to the movies - a moment that broadens horizons and fosters a sense of belonging.
Why is RISE Brasilia involved in this? Because real change begins where opportunities arise:
- through culture for children
- through education for communities
- through digital tools for the self-employed
Together with our partner Odonio Anjos, a colleague of Dr. Socrates, we are further developing their ideas: With the cloud-based accounting platform CAUIM FreeFinance, we will now also support small (free of charge) and larger (for a reasonable annual fee) self-employed individuals in Brazil in becoming financially independent.
Because participation requires more than good intentions - it requires access.
Members of the RISE management, Thomas Grechenig and Karin Kappel, sealed the agreement between the family, CAUIM, and RISE in 2024 at the ceremony to name the main street of the Olympic Village in Paris after Dr. Socrates.
In 2026 and 2027, RISE and CAUIM will launch FreeFinance from Riberão Preto, the home of Socrates and Odonio in the state of São Paulo, using the cloud-based accounting platform (available at freefinance.de or freefinance.at) to help small business owners build their future and achieve economic independence. Throughout his life, Dr. Socrates was a man dedicated to helping others help themselves and to fostering participation.
Real change begins where opportunities arise: for children through culture, for the self-employed through financial tools, for large communities through education and new perspectives. The future can only be built together. A CAUIM ticket is much more than entertainment. It is education. Integration. The future.
