International Day of Zero Waste: Let’s work together to shape a resource-efficient digital future!
Today is International Day of Zero Waste (March 30). In true RISE style, we’re turning our attention to an issue that unites us all and will remain with us for decades to come: the mindful use of resources, whether energy, raw materials, or food.
RISE combines technological innovation with sustainable responsibility. This includes the many different research groups we support. So, there will be quite a few more initiatives coming in the years ahead.
We’re already taking concrete action today:
- Keeping hardware in circulation: Functional laptops and monitors go to nonprofit organizations instead of the trash. Repairing before buying new is our standard.
- Conscious procurement, no food waste: Fair Trade products for meetings and events—planned based on actual needs, not estimates.
- Small steps, big impact: Last week, the Samaritan Federation picked up our deposit donations again. Many small contributions add up to something much bigger.
Zero Waste starts in everyday life—both at work and at home.
As an IT driver and innovator, we have a special responsibility: every hardware generation saved, every piece of electronic waste avoided, and every well-thought-out procurement decision counts.
