Systematic research
RISE lays the foundation for the development of future capabilities and solutions through focused and systematic research and ongoing in-depth analysis of key technologies. This is supported by continuous technology monitoring and assessment, in-depth studies, development of operational concepts and analyses, as well as participation in committees and standardisation.
Proof of Concept
At the heart of our research initiatives is the Proof of Concept (PoC), an indispensable tool that bridges the gap between theoretical research and real-world applicability. At RISE, the proof of concept is more than just a test run; it is a fundamental building block of our research and development strategy, helping us to push the boundaries of what is possible and look to the future of technology with confidence.
Combining strengths
The Think Tank is the research ecosystem of RISE. In terms of organisation and personnel, it is interwoven with the Do Tank, the organisational unit that manages the industrial projects, to form an innovative unit.

Transnational projects on an industrial scale are interdisciplinary large-scale projects of considerable scope. RISE meets these multidisciplinary challenges with numerous research groups with diverse research specialisations at various universities, including the Vienna University of Technology.
