RISE wins commission from gematik GmbH to implement Proof of Patient Presence (PoPP)
We are delighted that gematik GmbH has commissioned RISE to implement the central TI 2.0 service PoPP.
PoPP will, for the first time, enable digital, location-independent, and cryptographically secure proof that patients are in a medical care context together with service providers — a fundamental prerequisite for accessing sensitive health data in TI 2.0.
Implementation will take place in two stages:
-
Phase 1 – started: PoPP with the electronic health card (eGK) for on-site service utilization
-
Phase 2 – until the end of 2026: Integration of both digital authentication options – eGK on smartphones and health ID
“PoPP marks an important milestone in terms of usage and technology in the digitization of the German healthcare system. For the first time, mobile care scenarios such as home visits and telemedicine applications are supported, as is the use of the digital health ID as proof of insurance,” says Dr. Mario Bernhart, member of the management board at RISE.
As one of the leading technology manufacturers and pioneers in telematics infrastructure, we are delighted to be implementing PoPP, another key component for secure, modern, and interoperable digital healthcare.
