RISE receives approvals for the next ePA expansion stage (ePA 3.0.5)
„With the "ePA for all", we have created the basis for a data hub in the healthcare sector. Additional applications are being established and continuously developed on the basis of this secure platform. The TI platform is an important building block for digital sovereignty in the German healthcare system.“
With the approval of ePA 3.0.5, technology manufacturer RISE is expanding the electronic patient record with important functions that will make everyday digital life in the healthcare sector noticeably easier. Together with its partner BITMARCK, RISE is making the new version of the ePA available to more than 25 million people with statutory health insurance by the July 15, 2025 deadline. Private health insurance policyholders will also benefit from the new features.
Insured persons can enjoy even more user-friendliness and data protection in the new version - in addition to the improved content of the medication list, it is now also possible to precisely control access to it. Health insurance companies can now use the patient file to inform insured persons about health risks. For a better overview of a patient's key details, especially in emergency situations or when taking a medical history, the new version includes the electronic patient short file. It provides a concentrated overview of central details such as emergency data and personal statements.
The RISE e-prescription module has also been expanded: digital health applications can now be prescribed using electronic prescriptions. With the RISE solution, privately insured persons will in future be able to receive a digital pharmacy invoice directly after dispensing a medication in order to submit it to their private insurer completely electronically. The structured data of the invoice format simplifies and accelerates the billing processes of private health insurance companies.
Dr Christian Schanes, Member of the Management Board, emphasises: "With the 'ePA for all', we have created the basis for a data hub in the healthcare sector. Additional applications are being established and continuously developed on the basis of this secure platform. The TI platform is an important building block for digital sovereignty in the German healthcare system."
